The NSS unit of the college was established on 27/03/2017 vide ref no. NSS/PVC/243/17. Dr. Sushobhan Mukhopadhyay, Department of Bengali was the first Programme Officer of the NSS unit of this college. From 2020, Dr. Mumu Chakraborty, Department of Chemistry took the charge as the Programme Officer of this unit. Ever since its inception, the unit has undertaken many activities to realise the core objective of inculcating the values of democratic living and selfless service in its participants. During lockdown period the NSS volunteers prepared hand sanitizer and distributed among the local people and police station. The NSS Unit-I of the college organized 7-Day Special Camp from 01.08.2022 to 07.08.2022. In this special camp the unit adopted a slum in Naptani Bagan, Kolkata-23 and undertook various social activities for the welfare of the slum dwellers. Volunteers participated in “Clean India Programme” organized by University of Calcutta on 19.10.2022 at Babughat. This unit organized observation of students’ week in the academic session 2021-22. 2022-23, 2023-24. World AIDs Awareness Day was observed on 2022 and 2023 by seminar and rally. In keeping with the spirit and objectives of the National Service Scheme, the unit will continue to undertake programmes and activities related to literacy, disaster management, environment conservation, health, family welfare and nutrition, social service and other related activities depending on local needs and priorities.
