Departmental History
The destiny of India is now being shaped in her classrooms. This, we believe, is no more rhetoric. In a world based on science and technology, it is education that determines the level of prosperity, welfare and security of the people.
The Indian Education Commission (1964-66)
The Department of Education was introduced in 2018. The department offers honours course from 2021. The first full-time faculty member Smt.Sutapa Bose joined in 2021. The department follow CBCS&CCF (under NEP) syllabus as directed by University of Culcutta. The department provide infrastructural facilities like classroom, departmental library, also shares all other central infrastructure of the college like ICT enabled classroom, central library etc. Intake capacity for Honours is 30.
Mission and Vission:
Our mission is to provide education not only to acquire knowledge but also to inculcate a sound philosophy for holistic living. We also want to make the classes truly interactive and student-centric to the utmost extent possible.
The number of students in the class should be manageable on the one hand and regularity of attendance is to be made mandatory on the other hand to make a proper judgement of the students’ accomplishment in teaching - learning situation.
Students should be encouraged for self-evaluation and personality development and proper guidance should be provided so that the students strive towards perfection and competence.
The Department of Education strives to provide excellent teaching and learning environment with its focus on continuing education.
Future Plan of the Department:
- To provide more library recourses in future.
- To organize extension activities like lectures, student’s seminar, educational tour etc.
